I have a 1997 touring LE 440 fan ele. start for some reason the headlight kepts burning out sometimes it will last all day and then there is times it will last 5 min. no other lights burn out just the headlight can the reg. still be the problem ?

Check all your ground wires then replace regulator.

There is also a resistor block in that system. It's not too expensive. Does the headlight seem overly bright while it's running?

no not at all, were is the res. block i have never seen this on a ski-doo before

If you have a voltage meter or access to one check the voltage at the light connector. Although if you have a normal amount of light coming from it, it shouldn't be getting scorched.
The resistor in the PL from Skidoo Parts Nation is part # SKU: 410911000 on the list. On this list, though it isn't showing it in the diagram. Without the wiring schematic for that sled of that year I couldn't say what all feeds through the resistor. It could be ignition oriented.
