I plan to purchase an air compressor to run a HF brand floor nailer. Any suggestions on air compressor? I would like to get the best quality for price $100-300.

You don't need much volume with a nailer, so a pancake or single/double hot dog type compressor will do great. I use a Campbell Hausfield 2 gallon pancake (relegated to back up, now) and a double hotdog Ridgid with wheels on site. Most pancakes you can get for about $100, while they can go up from there. Go shopping and pick them up. Some are heavier than others, some are balanced better, some are oil less and some use oil. The types that use oil are considerably quieter than the oil less compressors. We don't allow subs who use oil less compressors to bring them inside. They have to leave them in the yard and run extra hoses. Too much noise.
