I have a Carrier whole house furnace with a built-in (attached) humidifier #humcclbp18-A. It's roughly 10 years old and has been working fine until recently. I change the pad every 2 years typically (not often enough!). Anyhow...

I noticed the house humidity was feeling dry in the last week or so, and when I checked the humidifier it became evident that no water was been fed into the system. (I lifted the top tray of the humidifier and saw no water coming out of the top spout on the solenoid and into the humidifier).

I suspected of the solenoid, but first I removed the connector from the solenoid and read 2V on the wires when furnace is OFF, and 6.6V when the furnace is ON. (I had the multimeter set to DC readings, not AC). Aren't these solenoids expecting 24V? Something's not right here... why is the furnace feeding 6.6V when active?

Am I missing something here?

EDIT: Nevermind... it was the humidistat setting set way low... hence the 6.6V reading. Once I set it higher it jumped to 24V and all is OK. :madhell:

yeah, a low setting will make the house dry. :coffee:
