Hello

We have decided to redo our living room. We are pulling up the 90's Mauve rugs. The floor underneath is mint as seen in the pic so we will just clean them and not refinish. I like the aged darker color of the floors. I have the area rug shown in pic and was thinking of using it over the hardwood. Our front hall will be done after the living room. I had a custom stained glass side window made for the front oak door. Was thinking of pulling a bright color from the window for the main wall where the fireplace is and using a neutral on the other living room walls. I like orange but not too dark. Any help is appreciated. I took several pics from different angles to give a little insight. I will mosty likely purchase new furniture after the room is complete. Any ideas?? Thanks

Hi Knee_Biter and welcome to the Forums!

This is what I'd do
The fireplace wall should be the focal point, indeed, but, instead of a bright color, I'd use a faux finish. The image below is showing a faux finish texture /color called Old World Fresco. Perhaps is a good idea if you remove the mirror (above the fireplace)
Peel the carpet and show the wood floors is an excellent idea. As you have several wood details, you can reinforce the idea with a wood crown molding.
Regarding the remaining walls, I'd use a color more intense that the current color, but less intense than the Faux Finish in the fireplace wall. I am thinking about these colors--> SW 3099 Sand Dollar or SW 6106 Kilim Beige
As complement, you can add a valance following the sofas' fabrics
This is more or less my idea

Thanks for the idea. Looks great. Which paint co. has these colors with those numbers?

Hi Knee_Biter,

Glad to know you liked the idea! :D
