Every time we turn the oven on, we get an acrid smell that really makes you want to leave the kitchen (and can leave you feeling a little woozy although this *might* be imagined?) However, sometimes our trusty Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide/LP detector starts counting up. It doesn't get to dangerous zone but says something isn't right. I've tried turning the orifice down, then I took it into a little shop where they supposed adjusted it, but it still keeps doing this. How do you know when you've got it right? Is some CO just part of the deal?

At this point, I'd take recommendations for a DFW mobile appliance service who'd deal with the issue. I am all for DIY but with two infants in the house, my DIY skills may be harming my family.

The flame should be nice and blue. If it's orange it's not adjusted properly.

Is this a new range? If so and the oven has not been used you usually will get an odor and a little light smoke coming from the oven at first. This is caused any residual oils on metal from the manufacturing process. If this is the case, run the oven for about a half hour with a window cracked or the range hood fan on and it should stop.
