Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - Simon XT Install Question

I just installed and powered the unit up.

It sends me to the time, where I set it using the up/down and enter keys. I am to now hit the status key twice to exit..

My status button when I hit twice does nothing. I dont hear an audible sound either. All the other buttons produce and an audible sound but * 0 and #.

Am I doing it correctly?
Is my unit faulty?
How do I get a replacement (purchased online), is there a GE # to call for replacement?

Hit the status button once to check status....what else are you trying to do? Do you have the installer code?

The panel says Disarmed and is showing the time on the display.

I attempt to hit the status button and nothing happens.(no sound either)

I have all the codes from the manual.. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Try arming up...do you hear arming level beeps and exit delay beeps? Panel beeps may have been disabled in programming....

All buttons on the pad make audible sounds minus the status, *, 0 and # keys.

When I hit the status button nothing happens.

I have disarmed and status lit up in blue as well..

As you requested, if I hit the doors and windows, i starts going through the zones (which i have not programmed any yet) but says failure on all of them.

If I hit motions; I get 3 beeps.

I also reset to factory by pressing the 4 buttons in the front and the tamper button then reconnected the battery. I then entered the time, however I cannot exit with the status button like the manual states.

If, when you arm up, it starts rattling off zones that are in failure, someone has previously learned sensors into the system. Where did you get it from? Sounds like a used system???

The system is used. The person didnt understand how to use it, so she sold it to me.

As I said I reset it, and the time now reads 12:00a, but I set the time though I cannot exit by hitting the status twice. I dont think the button is functioning, because I did push all the buttons to reset and the user code that I put is still there in the programming..

What can I do?

Sounds like they sold you a defective unit......You may be able to live without the status button. You will time out of programming eventually, so you won't be stuck in there.
