Hello. I have a few questions regarding my NX-6
1.) My LCD keypad went bad and my alarm installer sent me a new one. I have installed it and enrolled it using a code they gave me. My zone names are gone. Instead of saying Front Door, it says Zone 1. How can I rename them? I am familiar with the programming structure. I went in and changed a few options by locations/segments.
2.) My phone line was cut last week by my landscaper. I have since got it fixed. I have alarm.com and it sent me a txt message saying phone line restored. but alarm still displays Type *2 for help, failed to comm. How do i fix this? I tried the **7, no luck.
3.) How hard is it to add wireless reciever? And wireless zones? I want to have keyfobs and a sensor on my garage that is not wired for alarm
4.) what do i need in order to dial in to my system for programming. is it terminal based or do i need a certain software.
Thanks!
Oh I am a systems engineer and php programmer. Im very technical. Your help is appreciated!

1. If the old keypad is not functional, then you'll need to access text programming via *92 programming. If the old keypad was working, there is a way to transfer text, but that sounds like a mute point in your case. You'll need a keypad install manual to do text. Search using NX-148E install manual.
2. Is your panel set up for an auto phone test? Can you send a manual phone test to the central station?
3. Probably too late for this, but the easiest (cheapest) way to add a wireless reciever is with the NX148E-RF keypad. Cost is about $5 more than the non RF keypad (it's a 48 zone receiver built in to an LCD keypad). Or you can add a stand alone receiver. Current version is the NX548E, but the older NX408,416, or 448 versions still work if you can find them. If you've never done RF programming with NetworX, it can be a little challenging, but not rocket science (especially with the help of those on this forum!)
4. You need the DL900 software available at ge security's website. It's free, but password protected. This really isn't meant for end-users, learning curve is pretty high (as it usually is if your not in the "biz"). Typically you'll need an older, slower, EXTERNAL modem in order to call in to your panel.

Thank you for you answers.
I was able reprogram my zones. Excellent!
Regarding the software, I did manage to get my hands on it. I have not been able to dial in yet, i dont want to mess anything up and I am unsure what the access code is. Is that the same as the MAster code that I use to prgram my alarm?
I have a laptop that has a modem, but is there no way to connect directly?
Do you have any places in mind as to where I should order my wireless reciever from?
Thanks!

The only thing you need to know to dial in is the download access code. Default is 84800000. It matches at default so this shouldn't be ac concern unless you changed it. Internal laptop modems are hit and miss....Your best bet is to direct connect with the NX588E direct connect module. Hooks into the data bus on the panel. No modem required! Others can chime in as to the best places to order from...
