I have an Amana oven, (12 years old). Baking lasagna the other day and part of a round honey-combed disk fell into it - so much for dinner. Two questions (1) what is it and (2) can I continue to use the oven without it.

A guess: Possibly a baffle in the ceiling vent that lets hot expanded air to excape out from under one of the small rear stove burners up top. This baffle might be a way for Amana to have a larger heat-escape gathering area, yet without having too much of the heated oven air escape. If that is what it is, I'd say you coud still use it, but it may cause oven to cycle more, waste more electricity and---help heat your house.
