I bought and installed an HE360a about a month ago. One night I awoke to the internal fan hitting the plastic housing of the unit.
I took the cover off and the housing had warped (I assume due to heat). Since it was within the 30 days I swapt it for another one at the store. It has been operational for about 30 hours now and I can already see that the housing is starting to warp again. Same spot. The ambient temp does not exceed what the manual suggests...HELP?
Things I noticed.
- The replacement filter is not as see-through or as hard as the original. The first unit I had failed after replacing the filter. Unfortunately I didn't use the factory filter with the second unit...so I can't test this theory.
- The unit is installed where the A coil is so it reaches about 168 degrees. But the humidifier never goes over 135. And usually operates at 108. I read this with a temp gun.
- I run the Furance fan 24/7 in the winter. And the Humifier seemed to hit the housing worst after the Heat had been on and cooling started. Like it contracted severely.
- It does seem to run hottest when the Heat is on and the Humifier first turns on...before the Pad gets wet. That is when it peaked at 135. So I was thinking, if I could only make it come on at the start of the heat cycle that would ensure it would run at the coolest temp. Is there a way, with the blower running all the time, to get the humidifer to only turn on with heat?
Have you heard of this happening? What do you think I can do to avoid this. I love the way it makes the house feel. But as you can see it keeps me up at night thinking up a solution.
BTW - Honeywell customer care is worthless!
Thanks for your help.

Is the furnace gas or oil heat? The air temp is 168˚ when the furnace runs?

It is a Bryant Natural Gas furnace. The Air Conditioner Coil is above the furnace. I have a Space Guard air filter between return and blower. I replaced the filter before install.
The highest temp I clocked in the middle of the A Coild was 176. The highest temp I clocked inside the Humidifier was 135.
I am racking my brain with this one.

Jason, are you using the sail switch now?
What is the make and model of your furnace?
