Hi - I have a bunch of wireless WS4945 window/door contacts, a couple of them on double windows. What I want to do is use one WS4945 for two windows - one window with the WS4945 and the magnet, and the window right next to it with a normally closed magnetic reed switch hooked up to the external reed switch inputs inside the WS4945.
I tried one out, but I'm getting weird results. The reed switch only seems to work if the window that the WS4945 is on is open. It seems like the WS4945 is letting me know if BOTH the WS4945 and the reed switch are open, but not letting me know if just ONE of the two is open.
Basically, if I open the window that the WS4945 is on, with the reed switch on the other window closed, nothing happens. But if I then open the second window while the first is open, my panel beeps telling me the zone is open. I want my panel to tell me when either window is open, not just when both are opened.
I have 7 or 8 double-windows to apply this solution to, so I really don't want to have to buy 7 or 8 more WS4945's $$$$ - what am I doing wrong?
I'm using a DSC PC1832 by the way.
Thanks!

Am I supposed to just not use the magnet for the WS4945, and hook up two external reed switches?

Yup, that's how they work.

Man, I'm missing something. I can't seem to get one WS4945 to work for two windows. What's the recommended method?

Take your 2 contacts and tie one lead from each contact to each other. The remaining pair of wires (one from each contact) are what are connected to the hardwire input on the transmitter.
