Please don't laugh!...

I've heard about people's obsession with high-tech toilets in Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilets_in_Japan) but didn't care much about it until experienced one of them first-hand (for a lack of a better term :)). During my recent trip to China I had a chance to play with one of those high-tech toilets. It is amazing! It has a heated seat, it acts as a bidet (sprinkles) and one can control the exact location of the sprinkler "target" and many other things. Just think of all the things one can do with it! :D

The most amazing thing to me was not all the features of that high-tech toilet but the fact that it was manufactured by Kohler! I have never heard of these toilets being sold here in the USA... Have you?

I dont know about the Kohler version but one of the best toilet brands in the US is TOTO, a Japanese brand. I say best with much assurance because I own 2 of them myself. Not only do they make the complete units as you describe they make a "washlet" which is an aftermarket replacement seat that contains the bidet function and even closes the seat softly after youre through with it. That certainly keeps the peace in my family!

You can also retrofit a fancy toilet seat onto many standard American toilets. It is easier and less expensive than buying a Japanese toilet with high speed Internet access and coffee maker built-in.

My wife loves our heated toilet seat. I think it is a Kohler brand mounted on a Toto toilet.
