Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - Updating 1970s track lighting

I have 5 lighting tracks in my house, only 1 of which is regularly used. We have considered removing some of the tracks but don't like the idea of a blank cover plate on the ceiling and dead switches (all but one of the switches is part of a 2 or 3 switch box).

A better alternative seems to be to update the lights with the new, smaller fixtures I've seen at Lowes, etc. What I'm wondering is will these be compatible with my 38 year old tracks or have the designs/standards changed? Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Most likely the tracks will not be compatible.

Look to see what type of track it is. If you stay with the same brand you may still be able to get different heads for them. Halo, Juno are two major manufactures that are still around. Bring a old head and see if the big box or a lighting store can find the brand and see if there are still heads that are compatible.

They are Juno and Juno says their Trac-Master heads are compatible. I've found a local store that carries that brand. Thanks.

38 yrs later? And they could actually give you information like that? Wow, I know what brand lighting I'll be getting when it comes up

Both Juno and Halo are both great manufactures. We always use their stuff. Glad to have helped :)

And I got the response within an hour of leaving my question on their website!

Their lights seem very expensive compared to what I see available at the big box stores though.
