Hello,

What is the recommendation for baseboard trim size/style for the basement? I purchased 3 1/4th but I am reconsidering. Is it best to get the bigger 5+ for the basement? Is that the 'in' thing? The more pictures I see, I see the bigger baseboard.

How high are your ceilings? If 8' or less IMO the 3 1/4 is minimal, while the 51/4 may look "classier". However, I don't recommend using MDF in a basement, so speedbase is out. You can use either finger joint (paint grade) or solid (stain) and get years of service. MDF, while very stable, will tend to absorb moisture if you have such problems and cause your paint to delaminate. Many basements have higher humidity than the main floors.

Hi,

The ceiling height is around 7 feet. Are 'smaller' baseboards better since the ceiling isn't that high? Does it 'trick' you in thinking it is higher?

I actually got the primed pine. Is that ok? All we need to do is paint.

You are absolutely right with the height thing. And the primed pine is perfect.
