This old system has worked well for 17 years, but has problem now. A couple of months ago a false alarm on and I disarmed the system in 15 seconds. 15 minutes later the police came. The morniyoring company (SCOTT) said that they called my home phone a couple of times but only got busy signal. I was at home not using the phone. It must be some thing wrong.
After talking to SCOTT they sent a guy to sell me a filter and put it bettewn the DSC board and phone line. This is because I am using TELUS ADSL internet service. But it didnt solve the problem. A couple of days ago same thing happened . They called the home phone getting busy signal again. Since I just bought a cell phone they called my cell phone and I told them that was a false alarm. They sent a service man to test the system yesterday and fond that when the false alarm was on
DSC pc2500 sent a signal to mornitoring station and keeping to occupy the phone line for minitues. This was why they got busy signals. I would like to ask for help:
1. Is there any way that I can fix the problem? I can do the electronics repair work, but dont know this system.
2. If its cant be fixed ,can I buy a new system board like DSC1832 to replace it and keep the old led control panels?

Older alarms are notorious for having issues with DSL telephone lines. If the tech listened in with a butt set, they should been able to find out why the panel is hanging onto the line so long.

Sometimes it's because it's having to send all of it's data repeatedly before getting acknowlegment from the central station.

This is not an issue that can be troubleshot playing 20 questions. Basically, the alarm hardware is ok, but really wasn't designed to deal with sharing lines with DSL. Sometimes changing the dialer format will fix this; but if it's in your budget, upgrading to current generation hardware will likely be the better fix.

Hi, Ron :
Thank you for your reply. For upgrading the system, can I just buy a new system
circuit board to peplace the old one, and any suggestion which DSC hardware that I should be looking for? Do you think that I can just replace the circuit board and keep the old led keypads (sorry, not led control panels)?

No, keypads are have to match the system model. If you get a current generation control, you have to get the keypads that go with it.
