I was able to disarm it with the 2580 distress code, now my question is, how do I change the distress code? It was too easy to disarm it with that, especially since there is currently no ADT service. I do not know if it is a certain user # that the distress is set from and thus I could just change that user # code.
Thanks. This site is great.

Use the Vista 20p installer manual (websearch using that phrase).
The duress code is one of the standard user codes with the Duress option set on a normal 20p. It is possibly hard coded in the ADT modification.
If I was setting it, it would be user code #49

Thanks for the reply. I realize what the duress code is, however I did not know if there was a common user # that ADT used. If it is hard coded, then does that mean it can not be deleted without some detailed programming? Also, I take it there is no way to tell what user number it is programmed in?

If it's hard coded, it's built into the chipset. There's no backdoor to that.
There is no way to view user codes or even what slots are occupied on a Vista clone.

Thanks again. I'll try #49. Just curious, why is that your choice if you install?

It's the last user code slot.

Well, just an update... I went thru and deleted all user codes (if any where there). Started at 3-9, then for some reason decided to go down from 49 - 10. I stopped after every ten to see if 2580 had been erased. No such luck from 49-20. I then did 10-19 and to my surprise, one of these must have been the duress code as it no longer works.
My only other issue is the "FC" message I would like to get rid of. I understand I can do this by deleting the phone number in the system? I searched this and could not find definite directions. Can you just briefly let me know each step to delete the phone #. I read something about *41 and *42, but need direction on doing it.
Edit... If I do 6321+8+0+0+*41* will this delete the number? Then, do I have to exit program mode (*99 right?) and the do 6321+0+0+*42* to delete the other? I assume I do not need to exit and reenter but I do not want to screw anything up. Is there any other numbers I have to delete besides 41 and 42 (I saw someone mention *94)? Also, does the phone line in the control box actually need to be hooked up or if I unplug it, will I always see an error? Thanks again!

Yes, go to program with [installer code] 8 00, then enter *41* and *42*. That turns off the dialer. *94* is to erase download phone number so that your system cannot be shut down remotely.
Exit with *99

Sounds good.
Does the phone connection have to be connected in the control box to avoid the "FC" code on the keypad? I don't have any home phone service right now and did not know if that will effect it.

It shouldn't, if it does, there is a telephone line monitor function that can be turned off, as well. It's rarely turned on.

Thanks for all your help. Last question - is it possible to hook the system up to an ABN or something else and have it call my cell phone thru an internet connection? Next Alarm sells one that you can hook up, but I did not know if it was possible to purchase one and just have it call my cell phone. If this is possible where is it available to purchase? Below is the link to Next Alarms...

Sure, as far as I know one of those things will work with nearly anything. Basically it's phone line emulation that translates to digital.
It's not a standalone, though, you have to use their service.

Oh. That is what I was getting at. I was hoping there was some kind of standalone. Thanks again. As of now everything is working fine.

According to my Vista-20P manual, the duress is stored as user 16.
