I have purchase a REO home and of course they have a ADT alarm system. This system is unmonitored and I do not want to activate this system yet. I need to know how to reset the alarm codes that may be set in this thing. Can anyone tell me ow to do this? :wall:

What is the alarm system model? (look inside the door of the metal box with the battery).

I also purchased a REO with a LYNX..the circuit board on the wall mount portion has LYNXREIN printed on it. Is it possible to reset this to all factory defaults including installer code? Would it be better to just trash it and buy a new one?
I am not interested in having the system monitored by anyone, especially ADT. They called my house 6 times in the first 2 weeks I was in here wanting to sell me service...
Thanks

If all of your devices are working otherwise, it shouldn't be necessary to fully default the unit. First, websearch using the phrase: "LynxR installer manual". The manual should be in the first 5 or 6 hits.
Enter [intstaller code] + 8 + 00
(If you haven't spotted the most likely ADT installer code in the archived posts in this forum, websearch using the phrase "ADT installer code")
This should put you into programming mode.
Enter *41*, *42* & *94* to erase the dialer phone numbers and prevent the previous monitoring service from dialing in to possibly disable the system.
enter *99 to exit programming, then you can use the installer code, and the instructions on page 47 of the installer manual to set a new master code.

Ok, i think i got that, is there a tutorial somewhere on how to program, etc? I guess I am alarm challenged. Thanks.

The closest thing to a tutorial is reading through the manual, and perusing forums like this one. The Lynx follows the basic programming model of all of the Honeyewell/Ademco alarm systems, so once you get a grip on the programming interface, it's actually pretty easy.
