I've been reading threads here and getting ideas but I haven't run across my exact situation.

Today the heat stopped working, and checking the furnace I heard "click click click click etc" but no startup. Furnace is a CG Series 11 (CG 25-6) with a White-Rodgers 36E Gas Valve.

I was able to get the furnace lit, as the startup commenced, with a long match through the hole that's near the pilot assembly. Everything seems to be working but I'm pretty sure once it shuts down at setpoint it's not going to startup automatically on the next "on" call.

Anybody have an idea what my next move should be?

That sounds like a spark ignition system. I'd start by removing & cleaning the pilot assembly.

It started on its own the next time but it did seem like the spark was struggling to ignite the pilot. I'll try cleaning the pilot assembly using the tips found in other threads.

By the way you need to call it a boiler not a furnace.

Remove and clean the pilot.
Put everything back exactly as it came apart.

I will call it "Mr. Boiler", giving it all due respect. Also, I will not attempt to improve on the design of the pilot.
