I'm having issues with my thermostat (at least I think thats the issue)
My system is electric. The Air handler is by Goodman. The thermostat is a Trane TCONT600AF11MA. The outdoor unit has labels for Trane and Goodman on it so I'm not certain what it actually is. I do know that the outdoor unit runs when A/C is on and when Heat is on so I think its a Heat Pump unit.
On the thermostat I had these wires:
G - Green Wire
W - Orange Wire
B - Blue Wire
Y - Yellow Wire
R (jumpered to Rc) - Red wire
I'm trying to replace the thermostat but when I connect the replacement the system will not turn on. (no fan running, outdoor unit doesnt engage etc)
I tried re-connecting the original but for some reason it also wont turn on.
Could I have made a mistake when labeling the wires?
I looked up in the attic at the air handler and I see those wires and where they connect.
Blue goes to "C" on the air handler circuit board.
Red goes to "R"
Yellow goes directly to the outdoor unit and doesnt appear to go to the Air Handler at all.
Orange goes directly to the outdoor unit also
Green goes to G on the air handler
There is also a White wire which is not connected to my thermostat but is connected up in the Air hander (but no label on the item its connected to)

The white wire that is unused from the air handler, what is that hooked up to at the air handler?
Was that wire hooked up at the old stat?

Did you turn off power to the system before you changed the stat ? If not, you more then likely smoked the low volt trans.

I did have the power off to the system before doing any work.
I have also discovered the issue.
There was a 3A fuse on the air handler that blew. I'm told that is not uncommon on this unit, especially when power is lost/restored. Once I replaced it the original stat worked fine.
Also, the white wire was not connected on the orignal stat. I called my dads A/C guy and he got me the correct wiring info, including the white wire. The white wire appears to be for the heat strips which had not been working. Once it was wired up properly they engaged and I could smell them heating up for the first time in a long while. I guess the previous owner didnt realize they where not wired up.
Everything is ok now, including the new stat.

Where did you hook up the white wire?
The heat should of came on when the HP goes into defrost.

White when to "W" on the stat. There was previously an orange wire in "W" which wasnt right and is now in "O."
Before the Heatpump would heat or cool but the heating wasnt activating the heat strips. Now those also turn on as they should (if the temp is 6 degrees or more from set temp).

ok I'm confused, Do you have the 600 or 602?
If the 600, the W and O are the same.

600. doesnt matter now, I replaced it and all is working again. There was 1 wire not hooked up, probably why the heat strips didnt work.

It does matter. you now have two wires on W/O, you do not want that wired up that way.. Unless you want to pay a lot of money on electric bill.
The 600 is NOT the correct t-stat. The white wire has to be wired to Aux and E, and the 600 does not have that, where the 602 does.
