make a home built ark welder out of 4 or 5 large micro wave transformers by replacing the secondary coil with 25 turns of 12g braided high temp insulated wire.:wall:

Just to let you know...while it may be possible..I don't think you'll get any help with that here. Too many safety issues and it's not really what this site is about.
I'm sure if it's possible, its out there on the web somewhere.

I won't even think about how to make a welder out of tin cans and twine because it really does not matter. You can stick two wires into a socket and touch them and they will weld together (sort of). Welding requires control. A welder made from microwaves may be possible but what will it weld? Since it will be fixed output there is only one thickness of metal it will work on. It is so much easier (and possibly just as cheap) to buy a cheap Chinese welder, or better yet buy a used brand name (Miller, Lincoln...) one.
