emergency heat mode does not work unless fan on switch is on. i took the t-stat off subbase and noticed one of the pins that plugs in to the cover is bent out of the way. i straightened it out and put t-stat together. now the contactor at the 5 kw heat strip goes nuts. it seems as though it makes and breaks the circuit about 1000 times a second. what the heck is going on?
