The system never activates the two secondary electric coils (there are three, two of which are activated together) and only activates the first coil when set to emergency mode. We hadn't noticed this before because we primarily burn wood in a wood stove.
The system is a air sourced heat pump with 15k electric backup heating and a Heil (FVM4X3600A1) variable speed air handler. The thermostat is a Honeywell FocusPRO TH6220D.
I am suspecting the thermostat wiring because the original installer initially wired the system so that the first heating coil would receive power every time the a/c would come on. Another installer figured this out after a few visits and remedied that problem, but I think he may have wired up the heating wrong.
Running through the system tests on the thermostat I have verified the only time the first electric coil will activate is when the unit is forced into Emergency heating mode and the other two do not ever come on. Note: I did try to test the normal heating system test and none of the electric coil received power when the second stage heating is activated.
My main problem is figuring out the wiring for the air handler. I can't find a diagram anywhere, however I do have plenty of documentation for the thermostat. this is how it is currently hooked up.

If someone has a wiring diagram for this air handler or know exactly how it should be wired please let me know.
Note: The heat pump seems to run as it should and generally keeps the temperature up when it not too cold outside.

it not wired up right.

Do you have extra wire in the wall? If so, then you use that wire on Aux.
Also, what is the installer menu set to?

The system type is set to 2 heat/1 cool heat pump. I do have about 3 or 4 extra wires so that shouldn't be a problem.
What do you mean by "E---------W2/W3----------W2"? I don't have a W3 on the Air Handler. Also why would the H/P be connected to the E line? I thought that Emergency would bypass the heat pump altogether.
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to thoroughly understand.
Thanks a ton!

Glad to hear it's solved.
on the CPH setting for Emergency heat, set that to 3 instead of 9 that the manual suggest.
