I had a rocking toilet. Removed the toilet and found a thin lead pipe and a cracked flange. I was able to pull the flange loose with my hand. The lead is soft and jagged and I can trim with snips as far down as necessary. I can see a PVC elbow about 18" down.
Can I get a replacement flange (pvc or other material) from a big hardware store, or will I need a plumbing supply, that I can slide down into the lead pipe and set the the flange into fresh concrete (1/2 thick, 1" deep) under and around the flange? Would that little concrete support the new flange and commode?

Did you ask this question on the Terry Love forum? If yes, I'm sorry those guys couldn't give you better answer.

Is this in a slab or do you have crawlspace? If it is a slab then I think you need to cut out enough concrete to be able to install the proper PVC fittings and then replace the concrete.

MikeC1: I wish you could post a picture. I've never seen a lead pipe hooked up to a pvc ell, dosen't make any sense.

I'm flabbergasted that there is a user here named "MikeC1". I just joined and didn't even look. So no handle jack intended...
