We recently obtained a supply of Eastern Red Cedar and decided to make a walk in cedar closet and plastered hallway out of a second floor spare room. In reading up on cedar closets, I have gotten confused from conflicting information regarding air flow. Some information says to seal the closet as tight as possible to minimize air infiltration and preserve the smell and insect retardation. Yet, I have also read about problems with damp cedar closets. There is currently an air duct in the area where the closet will be located, and we talked about moving it, but we live in a very humid area in the summer and I am not sure which way to go with this. Any suggestions?

You would be wise to leave air circulation, especially if there is the potential for a moisture problem. The last thing you want, especially in a closet is mold or mildew. Air flow will not detract from the cedar repelling insects. Any time you want to refresh the cedar scent, just very lightly sand.
