I'll be starting a new home this spring,I'd like to see some chimney plans, specs for a double 8X8 lined, clay flue, Block constructed chimney with brick top finished for looks.
Can anyone help or lead me to plans? I'm in minnesota, retired carpenter of 26 years and retired building inspecter in Mn. and Ca.

Hello from another Minnesotan! :)

In my opinion you would be better off doing a double wall steel pipe for your chimney. Then frame around it with wood and put a cast brick/stone on the outside. I think it would cost less, easier to install and last longer. Then hook that up to a zero clearance wood fireplace and install some outside air ports and you will have one very efficient wood burner.

I thought about that,But I'll have a water heater, forced air gas furnace and a wood stove forced air, all connected to one pipe.I dont even think there are connections for SS pipe that would allow 3 connections or if its even legal.
Besides a 2 flue chimney will cost about 192 block at a buck each and 38 flue liners at whatever,I'll guess it'll cost less than 350.00. I'd need 10 SS pipes their expensive and the octopus I'd have to create to connect!
Thats why I asked for chimney plans SS pipe wont do a clean job.

I am no expert on this but it doesn't seem that you could dump the furnace or the water heater into the fireplace vent anyway.

Also, are you going to buy a 90 plus furnace? Most cases they will vent that out a side wall or roof using PVC.

Again, I am no expert.

you can not I repeat can not hookup gas and wood to one pipe or tile flue, they must be run in two flues if you run them them in the same chase one must be higher than the other, as the wood flue may draw gas fumes back into the house when not in use
