Hi there, I got a Carrier Infinity system installed July 2008 (Carrier Infinity 16 4t heat pump - 25HNA648A, Carrier ICS 95K propane furnace - 58MVC100-F, Carrier Infinity Control - SYSTXCCUID01-B v14). I had the same installation company put in a Honeywell TrueSteam 12gpd unit but I think/know something is not quite right.

The unit appears to work fine when there is a call for heat as the ICS shows "Humidifier On" and the TrueSteam Humidification lamp comes on. However, when there is not call for heat the system does not answer the call for humidity.

Wiring is as follows:
TrueSteam
HUM -> Yellow
HUM -> Green
C -> Blue
R -> Red
R ->RT jumper installed

Furnace/Air Handler
Yellow -> Relay
Green -> Relay
C -> 24V/COM
R -> R

Relay
White -> 24V/COM
Yellow -> HUM spade on furnace/air handler

Dip switches on the TS are all OFF.

Infinity Control has the humidifier added and shows the pad maintenance interval, etc.

What did my guy do wrong? I need it to steam without the call for heat or else it will never get to the set level.

I think I have this figured out and it did not require wiring/jumper changes.

I pored over the various install manuals and everything looked good. I decided to step through the Infinity setup process at the thermostat. The automated setup seemed to go fine, but there was an additional humidifier accessory setup "Humidify with Fan" setting. Changing it from 'No' to 'Yes' was what I needed. Below is the excerpt from the Infinity Control Startup manual:

HUMIDIFY WITH FAN: (Heating Mode Only)
S NO (default)
S YES
If YES, the humidifier will turn on if there is a humidify demand
present. The fan will turn on to Low speed if the fan setting is
Auto.

You access this setting by:
Hold Advanced for 10 seconds -> Settings -> Accessories -> Humidifier

Yep, you got it figured out.

Will a low voltage sag cause the unit to act erratic and throw "Call Service" and/or "Press Reset"?

The humidifier seems to be working in general, however at least twice I have gone to the Carrier Infinity Control unit and found it "off". When I go to the furnace it shows that it has power, breaker are not tripped and normal operation is restored when I Reset or power cycle the humidifier.

The installer appears to have tied into the circuit feeding the furnace/air handler and wired in an outlet. I am wondering if high fan+humidifier+some other furnace draw causes a voltage sag and confuses the ICS.

no, it shouldn't be an issue. It's wired up right from how I read it.

This system is less than a year old, call the dealer since it's under warranty.

I have this same exact problem, but with Performance level furnace/heat pump, and an Edge stat.

I am wondering if the Humidifier should in fact be able to tell the furnace to run in fan mode until it catches up?

If so, two questions arise:

1. Can you set this on the Edge thermostat, like the infinity as mentioned by Llama?
2. Will the Trusteam humidifier running through the duct work without heat cause mold issues?

Thanks in advance.

What is the model # of the t-stat you have now?

It is one of these:

TP-PRH TP-PAC TP-PHP

Not sure what the difference is.....

TP-PRH TP-PAC TP-PHP

Not sure what the difference is.....

PRH- is Thermidistat
PAC- is A/C only
PHP- is HP and A/C system.

I'm guessing you have PRH one?

Yes, PRH. Thermidistat.

So should the humidifier be running without heat (ie - should the fan keep going and blowing the steam, and will this cause rust/mold)?

The fan should be running.

in the set up menu, under option #40, it should be set to On.

OK, and this would not lead to a mold issue, or rust?

Thanks for your help!

No, as long the air is moving the steam you will be fine.

The only humidifier system that cause rust is the misting/spray type.

Sweet!

Well, took me a while to find the install manual to get to those codes, but that also answered more questions I had such as the Heat pump cutoff (which I set to 30).

Much thanks for your help, I am very glad I found this site!

I have one further question which I will post in another post (unrelated).

Could of asked me for the link of the manual, and saved you time. :-)

As for the HP cut off, i'd be tempted to go lower.
