I am interested in purchasing and installing my own system. Considering a wireless hybrid system. I also would like options to call personal numbers and possibly a monitoring company.

I have attempted to evaluate options with cost and have become a bit confused. Can someone tell me the best product for the money, ease of setup and use? And the where to purchase?

That's going to vary based on your level of technical skill.

Your best bet for DIY, is to go to the Honeywell Security, DSC, GE Security, Napco and other major brand websites, look at the model features (all of the current models will do what you are describing), _then_ websearch for the installer manuals for the systems you are considering.

Reading though the manuals can give you an idea of how likely you are to get stuck on something. They are not like typical consumer electronics manuals; they are written with the assumption of specific degrees of technical knowledge, and access to the maker's tech support (which they _do not_ provide to DIYs).

Look through the archived posts here and on similar sites. For any given brand and model, you will see the same issues come up, over and over.
