This is not a flooring question but it's ceramic tile so I hope I've come to the right place.

I want to put GFCI outlets in my kitchen but the openings in the ceramic tile backsplash are not quite large enough for the screws that hold the cover plate on. Is there a way to enlarge the opening without danger of breaking the tiles? I'm afraid if I try to chip the opening I could crack a tile.
