Hi Looking for some help sorting my techs out. This started friday night with a no heat, cycled it on by shutting breakers off then would work until Tuesday morning when nothing functioned

I have a Air Ease Ultra forced air oil furnace installed new 05 with a Goodman 2.5 ton seers 14 Heat pump installed seperate company late summer 06

After 6 hours of calling support lines

The furnace Beckett AFG oil burner with a : Beckett/honeywell R71584A 1075 Intercepter P primary Control with Lock 15 Seconds R71584A 1075 0716<< additioanl series number located right side of control
with a
Beckett 51970U A/C Ready Kit replaces 7520U

Within 2 years (emerg night service calls both in february) The A/C ready kit was replaced both service calls The primary control the first service in addition to the kit both burnt.

Again the Oil tech who did the service call states it was A/C ready kit burnt and faulty and no cause could be found
My heat pump guy has no cause for this situation and inspected the unit after the first call and will inspect again in a couple days. I got them in an argument over the rating and function of the A/C kit, oil man says the pump is calling and making the oil controls flutter and bleed voltage to it causing it to overheat.

Today frustrated I call R.W. Beckett and their Tech says this 7184A Control with another series of numbers on right side of the control, a white label if it contains a sideways number with a 6 (mine is 0716) Honeywell Corp, has made notice to it's distributors regarding a fault and offers a 2-1 to distributor form of swap. Distributors were advised of notice states something to do with EMF currents causing defects. Contact your distributor.

The Becket tech could not answer if this is the cause of my A/C ready Kit burn out. when inquired if this part had a notice he didn't know. Asked about performance complaints he said this could have been a cause but the primary control should have been upgraded on the previous service.

I inquired about compatibility with the Honeywell 8184M as an all in 1 replacement upgrade (which my HVAC engineering friend suggested) and he stated yes it's compatible and to me would eliminate the need for the A/c ready kit. This doesn't explain or solve nor correct the cause of why they burn out.

My Hvac friend in NY suggest the real control is in the thermostat and may be the cause do to wiring or programming (which my heat pump tech in Ont. says is correct), niether tech has tested the thermostat for integrity only wiring connections. Also my guy in NY recomended a Fossil kit instead of the A/C ready kit, when I call and ask most hvac's say it's probably not in production amy longer.

How do I point these techs in the direction ANY HELP !

A Comment was also made to me by Beckett which do you prefer and A/c ready kit at 84 bucks or a all in one m8184 at 295 retail especially if there is a causefor them to burn up.

Like to know your opinion, I know I'll get the Primary control changed free of charge. Also I'd like to know if someone has a copy of this Honeywell White Paper I've called 3 local wholesalers locally and they say they heven't seen it but somethings in the works.

That 0716 is a date code (2007-16th week). At the top of that white label you will see the R7184 A 1075 number. At the end of that number and turned 90º to it there is another single digit number. If that number is a 6, your control may be involved in the problem series.

Your friend in NY is correct in that you need a fossil fuel kit. That kit should be available thru Goodman. BTW, I don't believe you need the A/C ready kit either. The fossil fuel kit should provide switching of the blower speed for cooling.

Boy what a day I had, Calling Honeywell, Sid harvey, Carrier, Goodmand, RW Beckett Did I leave anyone out.

hmmmm oh yeah my Attorney << just Kidding

Thanks a bunch for the recomendation Grady when all else fails I'll probably switch it over to the Fossil fuels Kit

They all pass the buck saying call your distributor call the other guy. The best was Honeywell when he was specking a controller and said Use the R7184A-1075 it'll be fine. Then I popped the question, why does your website list that part as obsolete. Answer because it's a Beckett production model. None of the support were much help at getting to the cause for same part to burn the controls. Carrier was the worst Call your service tech and have him come out. I explained to her I had and they can't seem to find the cause and left it at that.

Sorry I'm just not the type of guy to sit around in February waiting because my furnace is predicted to quit.

Any way any suggestions on how to Diagnose the Problem would be helpful.
