I have an upstairs shower with terrazo floor is about 45 years old. It appears that about 5 years ago, someone painted over the terrazo. the paint is now chipping and peeling somewhat, revealing the terrazo underneath. The BIG DEAL is that I discovered water coming through the ceiling below this shower. Upon closer inspection of the shower, I have found several cracks, very very thin, but a couple as long as 4 to 5 inches, that run along the outer part of the shower floor. I've confirmed that the leak is not coming from around the drain. So,
1. how do I seal the cracks? Just the cracks or the entire floor?
2. can I paint over the terrazo? If so, with what?
3. anything else that I'm missing? Re-do the caulk around the edge?
Thanks, sc

This does not sound good. You need to tear out the whole thing. A shower needs to have a rubber pan liner, which will contain the water and direct it to the drain weep holes.
They painted the shower floor? Gosh.....
