I have a Aprilaire humidifier. When do you know, if the filter needs changing?

I always suggest people to change the pad every spring after heating season is done.
While that is being done, i suggest cleaning the tray/holder, and shut off the water, humidistat, and close the bypass.
If your water is hard or what not, and the pad is caked with it, then it should be replaced twice a year.
