The hard wired portion of my alarm works well. I have a 5132 module that is only used for a wireless key fob. I cannot get this to work. The questions are how best to troubleshoot? Is there a way to determine that the 5132 is actually receiving a signal from the fob? The fob displays a light when a function button is pressed for several seconds, but there is no response from the system to any of the function keys.

When I tested to see if the 5132 was working I expected the 1 and 7 light to light on the keypad, but only the 1 lit. Is this a good clue??

Thanks for the help!

If you have a the old 900mhz 5132 receiver, this keyfob won't work with it. The keyfob is designed for the 433mhz systems.

The 5132 is for the 433 mhz. When I used to have other wireless modules installed, the key fob would work. Now I have everything wired and there are no wireless items other than the key fob on the circuit. I tries the fob from about 1 foot from the 5132 and it still did not react.

As stated in the FAQ for this forum, post full model and part numbers (that "-433" makes a difference) and full information. Those who provide info are doing this for a hobby, and playing "20 questions" makes simple things drag out forever.

That said:

Could you have possibly deleted the serial number when you were removing the other transmitters? Have you checked?

If you have enrolled the keyfob, have you entered the programming section for the keyfob number and set all of the functions (location 59 of the wireless programming)?

I tried 2 different approaches and still cannot get the system to react to the key fob buttons. I used the DLS program where I could see the fob ESN in location 41. The function keys in section 59 are 03 04 27 30. Downloaded to the system and tried it. Only get the LED on the fob.

I then defaulted the 5132-433
*8 ic 996 ic 996 #
enrolled the fob
*8 ic 804 [41] esn #
assigned the keys
*8 ic 804 [59] 03 04 27 30 #

Still only get the LED on the fob. Seems like I either am missing a step or the module is not receiving.

Have you considered the possiblity that the _keyfob_ is the defective item. If the receiver was working previously with door contact transmitters as well as the keyfob, the odds of the receiver completely failing it pretty slim.

The LED lighting only tells you that the LED works.

It must be the fob. There is one item I am unclear about. When I check for which module the control panel is supervising (section [903]) on the 5508 LED keypad I am supposed to see 17 lit up. I only see a light on 1. Do I have to hit a key to advance to 7 or is it telling me that I am not really supervising the 5132-433.

Thanks

Nope, that means that the system isn't seeing your wireless receiver. I would check the wireless boards wiring back to the keypad bus, very carefully.
