I have a large entertainment center than I am putting a crackle finish on. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to use my airless sprayer to apply the paint and crackle for all 3 steps? I work much faster when I use my sprayer. However, I am wondering if the sprayer application will affect the crackle finish. I am open to any advice.

I can't give you a very direct answer because I've never tried spraying that specific finish. I would try it on a scrap piece of wood and see if it works.

Yes spray will work, as you know you are putting a faster drying paint over a slower drying paint and as both dry, the crackle. The gun is actually the best way to apply both coats aas long as you are fairly proficient, a run in either coat will create a mess. The test for you is to figure how long you let the first (base) color sets up, before putting on the second. The longer the wait, the smaller less desript the crackle will be.
My favorite look is a red base with a black overcoat, rich looking.

Good Luck,

Bill

I am wanting to custom stain the cracks in my crackle glazed subway tiles. I have seen it in the high end french/italian tiles but can't afford those. My dealer told me that I can use shoe polish on them before they are sealed and grouted.

Does anyone know anything about this and what kind of polish?

I want to test it before I install it all over my backsplash.

Shoe polish? Sounds a little hinky..but who knows. You could always try it on a tile before it's installed I guess.

I'd be concerned with it. The sealer is normally only used on the grout I thought, unless you have some sort of porous tile that needs sealing...does yours?
