:loveu:I am updating my Master bath and would like to install a 30" X 22" granite countertop with undermount sink. It will have a vanity underneath it (it won't be mounted on legs).
I know in kitchen and large bathroom vanity applications a plywood base is needed to support the wieght of the granite. For something this small, is it necessary?
If it is necessary, how do you hide the ply so you don't see the edges under the granite?

Hi girlygirl,
Well, it will depend of the thickness, type, and how do you intend to support it (you mentioned it doesn't have legs)
You can use a border to hide the underlayment

Yes, well it is 1" thick and I was planning on just setting it on the top of the vanity and gluing it down around the edges (where it actually rests on the vanity) with some premium construction adhesive. Will this work or should I worry about it cracking?

I can't help you too much on the support aspect, as I have not done any granite countertops, but you should use 100% silicone and not construction adhesive.

I have a 60" GRANITE vanity top that I just installed on top of the vanity. Instructions I read said nothing about plywood. It is all one piece the sink and top. Its all granite. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks! I will be sure to use silicone and not construction adhesive.
I will let everyone know how it turns out!
