I just purchased an oil furnace that is only 2 years old. Simple to hook up, atleast i thought so. But when i power it on the green light flashes once, and i get nothing. the pump never tries to run. ive held the reset button in for more than 30 seconds. and still nothing. My setup has a transformer, with the C, W, Y, R etc terminals... Im only connecting this to a standard thermostat, The Ole Dial type, only 2 wires needed.
Theres 2 Brown wires that come from the Transformer that go to a Relay. That never gets the 24V. needed. Do i have to bypass something to use the thermostat im using or do i need to use a programable thermostat that would use the 5 terminals.

try this google hit 8 SERIES PDF for that controller. the stat should land on the 2 T terminals from the stat only.the 115Vs feed is for the temperature module only...burner and circulator relay from the 24V TR mounted inside it. honeywell 7184b - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=honeywell+7184b&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=)

Connect your two thermostat wires to terminals T & T on the 7184. The other terminals are for air conditioning.

Thanks Guys I got it, I was connecting to the 1 and 2 terms for my thermostat, which i found out is for some other dohikky....:) I had another programable thermastat laying around, and wired it to the contacts on top of the transformer, Using y,G, r, and W. and everything is working OK now. I read in the paperwork that if it senced it wasn't wired correctly, it would shut down like this. What threw me off was when i got the furnace, (used). the 1 and 2 terms were loosened, and i just assumed that this is where the (mercury style) thermostat would of been connected to.

It must be a Rheem, Rudd, or Weather King, yes?
