Want to install 3 Xenon pucks (daisy-chained) in a 6" high wood valance over a planned built-in bench seat in our finished basement. Chose to build valance to avoid ceiling drywall work. Current switch is double-gang for light/ceiling fan fixture. Current fixture is light over pool table with no ceiling fan. Currently in planning phase.
Question 1: I would like to wire nut the unused CF wire and use the switch for pucks. Is the ceiling fan switch a special switch for ceiling fans only? If so, are there any circuitry concerns to replace the ceiling fan switch with a regular light switch?
Question 2: Is it OK to leave the unused CF wire in the walls? If so, should I leave the wirenutted CF wire in the box?
Question 3: What is proper installation for connecting new pucks to existing unused ceiling fan switch? Need to understand how/where the transformer should be installed - is it OK to sit on the wood valance or should it be attached to a stud in the wall?
Question 4: Should I be concerned about IC vs. non-IC pucks? I know non-IC types of fixtures are used frequently under cabinets, so I probably shouldn't be concerned about heat, but would like to make sure. Dont want to burn down the house!
Sorry for the length ... your advice is greatly appreciated!
