I am reno'ing my upstairs and want to add some recessed
lighting to our master bedroom and hallway. Right now we have one 15 amp circuit running the following:
Bedroom 1: 1 ceiling light with 2 x 60watt bulbs
Bedroom 2: 1 ceiling light with 2 x 60watt bulbs
Bathroom: 4 x 35watt recessed lights, 2 x 50watt wall lights
Laundry room: 1 ceiling light with 2 x 60 watt bulbs
And here's what I am hoping to do to the master bedroom and hallway:
Master bedroom: 6 x 50watt recessed lights
Hallway: 6 x recessed lighs
Using my wiring book as a guide, I calculated the amperage and came up with 10amps which is well under the 15amp circuit.
I believe you are only allowed to have 12 connections on a circuit, and by my new setup I guess I would have 21 separate connections, but I am wondering if I would be ok with my setup since the amperage is within the breaker amount?

Yeah you're fine. Never heard of that 12 connection thing though. Are you in the USA?

I'm in Canada. The 12 connection rule I saw on a TV show Holmes on Homes, but maybe I misheard the rule.

That may be a preference vs an actual code/rule but I know nothing about the CEC.

Snaffoo, especially because you are in Canada, I strongly suggest you put this information in the "location" field of your profile. Your province would also help as the rules are not the same across Canada. Without a location, you are very likely to get some inappropriate advice here.

I believe the OP may be correct that Canadien code limits the circuit to a certain number of opening per circuit.
If this is the case having 21 openings witha limit of 12 would not be compliant. I would suggest a call to your building code officials for the correct answer.
