Hi, I am hoping to get some help with the following question please:
My husband and I and our daughter are currently living in a Housing Association property, but my husband and I are hoping to move into another rental property down south and our daughter who has a steady job with the government would like to remain in this house, .
Is it possible to transfer our tenancy of this property to our daughter and continue living here by paying the full rent etc so she can stay where she has lived since she was born nearly 21 years ago. We have been offered a property in another housing association down south and we will be in receipt of housing benefit of which will be transferred to the new place. If so how do we go about this?.

thanks in advance.

Hi, sorry but I have just found out that I am actually in a North American site, I thought it was UK ,I just clicked on a link in Google which I thought might help. Still, all help still gratefully received.:o

This will be a pretty generic answer, but I think it would largely depend on the wording in your lease as to whether it allows the unit to be sub-let (or whatever the proper British term would be), which would essentially be what you would be doing. Not sure about how different it would be in the UK.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately i have been informed that i could not transfer my tenancy to our daughter in order for her to stay in her home, when we move she would have to declare herself homelss and go to local government office and wait to be allocated a place, usually all the places no one else will take.
thanks again anyway.:(
