I'm pulling up my carpet (putting in wood floors) and in a few places I've noticed a strip of metal, about 3/4 inch wide nailed to the floor. It runs perpendicular to the wall, straight out from the wall about 1 foot, and its nailed to the floor. I have no idea what this is, anyone?

I found out, its a hurricane strap, designed to better hold the place together in case of a hurricane.
