We just had a stack stone (Lone Star, Grand Canyon) fireplace installed and there is mortar on our stone. Is there any way to clean this? I've read a lot of posts where they say NOT to get mortar on the stone but apparently the installer didn't read this before the project commenced. I have tried cleaning with water, granulated soap and water, and even white vinegar. The stone looks better 'wet' than dry so I'm also wondering if there is something I can apply to the stone to make it appear 'wet'. Thanks for your help.
