Hello Everyone,

I have a smaller house that is currently grey w/white trim.
Our roof is a dark grey.

My wife and I like warm neutrals, tans and such. However we are really having a tough time finding a base color that we like. We have 14 (yes 14) different colors of tan on our back wall right now, and they are either too gold, or green, or yellow. It's really frustrating!

We are thinking of using Sherwin Williams Pavilion Beige as a base. We originally were going to go darker base, but we haven't been able to find one that we liked.

Anyways, what would be some cordinating trim and accent colors with Pavilion Beige? I could go with a darker trim, or a lighter/off white trim. What about accent? Would a nice red work? or would a dark brown work better? I'll post pics of my house later this evening if that would help.

Thanks so much!

Hi jamesp880 and welcome to the Forums

Yes, some pictures will help a lot, because a color selection depends a lot of the type of materials, style of the house, etc

We'll be waiting your pcis

Sorry it took me a bit with the pic!

I've been thinking about using a white trim with the SW Pavilion Beige. I'd like to go a little bit darker than this color, but I can't seem to find one I like. I'd like a nice muted tan, no yellow/gold or greenish hue, thats a little bit dark than Pavilion Beige.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi jamesp880,

In my opinion, if you use Pavilion Beige (SW7512) for the base, the house will look too dark.
I'd use Realist Beige (SW6078) or Simplify Beige (SW6085) for the base and Pavilion Beige (SW7512) for the trims
But if you decide to go ahead and use Pavilion Beige (SW7512) for the base, you can use Utterly Beige (SW6080) or Mega Greige (SW 7031) for the trims

Thanks for the feedback! I checked out the colors you suggested today. I really like the utterly beige. Nice and neutral.

Thanks for the tip!

Any other suggestions? How about an accent? I was thinking Fired Brick.

Hi jamesp880,

Glad to help! ;)

Hmmm... Fired Brick... where are you thinking to add the accents?

Just the front door. We don't have any other features worth accenting! =)

I was thinking of a red front door, and fired brick seems to look good. It doesn't look purple when in the shadows like some other reds do.

Hi jamesp880,

In my opinion, you need some color to add a more three dimensional effect

This is what I'd do. Using the Utterly Beige (SW6080) you chose as base, I'd use the garage and front door's trims as accent. Perhaps you can add some touches to the front window. But instead of the Fired Brick (too dark) I'd use Bold Brick SW 6327
Something like this.... (sorry the effects moved a little when I tried to brighten the picture, but you see the idea)

Wow,

Thank you for all your help. It's nice to visualize things! Very impressive!

I'm not a big fan of the red as accent other than the door really. But I do think your idea of more color is correct. Maybe I'll do a darker chromatic brown for around the garage.

So: Utterly Beige as the body, Everyday white (6077) as the trim, and something like Cobble Brown (6082) as an accent around the garage instead of the red?

Thank you again for all of your help. Picking exterior colors is really difficult!

Hi jamesp880,

You're welcome! :D

This my concern: In the picture, I see too many shadows, and if you use a very dark brown, it will look more as a gray / black color.

Check these ones-->
- Down Home SW 6081
- Tanbark SW 6061

If you can, post a picture after the painting!! I'd love to see the results :D
