I'm planning to get rid of a couple of skylights, and I'm considering Solatubes to replace them. These are in bathrooms, but I was considering adding Solatubes to the living room, dining room and kitchen.

Anyone know how much heat loss they generate? I'm wondering if the spring/summer free light is worth the fall/winter heat loss.

Personally..I like Velux products...have you considered their skylights instead? Most are Energy Star rated and qualify for tax rebates and such. I also like their Suntunnels better than the Solatubes.

I can't find anything at Solatube that gives specifics on insulation values. It shouldn't be much..double glazing on the top and the lens on the bottom.
