I have Carrier HVAC unit. When the temp that is set on the Thermostat is reached the unit continues to run. It was the same thing in the summer. WHen it got cool enough in the house the unti would conitue to just blow air. What is wrong?

Is this a H/P - gas furnace with A/C - what do you have?
Is it the indoor blower that continues to run? if so, what position is the fan switch on your stat in - on or auto?

When you say unit, do you mean just the outdoor unit, or your outdoor unit and air handler? First place to check is with the tstat. Namely, is it energizing you air handler and outdoor unit.

I have tried it with the switch in both positions. Also the unit outside and the air handler in side are running

Next step would be to see what terminals are being energized by the tstat. We can walk you through checking it, if you are handy with a multimeter, otherwise it is time to call a pro.

if you have a digital thermostat you might try pulling the face off the back (while the unit is running)once the temp has been reached and see if things go off, sounds like a bad thermostat, just from reading ,
