The garage floor in my 38 year old house is pretty pitted from 38 winters of road salt residue. I would like to spruce up its appearance and make cleaning easier but I'm wondering if it's worth the time and cost. I don't believe it's ever been sealed or treated in any way.
Will the garage floor epoxy/paint kits that they sell at Lowe's or Home Depot work on an old, pitted floor or would I be wasting my money?

They would work about as well as any product geared toward homeowners/DIYers. The durability will be controlled almost completely by you, because surface prep is the single most important step. If you skimp on prep in the least, the stuff will not last. For example, if there are any grease/oil spots on the floor, they will need to be addressed before even considering a floor covering.
