I am renovating a bathroom that has a ceiling vent and light unit controlled by 2 switches - the box that holds these 2 switches has power coming into the box via one 3 wire cable(white/black/ground)...and then one 4 wire cable (red/white/black/ground) going out of the box to the ceiling vent/light unit. I want to remove the vent/light and replace it with 2 recessed lights (that will be around 5 feet apart) using the existing 4 wire setup with the existing 2 switches to power these 2 new recessed lights. Is this possible?
By the way I am removing the old vent/light b/c I bought a new vent/light/heater that requires it's own 20 amp circuit.
Thanks!

What you want is possible. Do you want both lights to operate at the same time? Do you plan to use the second switch?

No - I would like one switch #1 to control recessed light #1 and switch #2 to control recessed light #2.

OK, at the first light wire the fixture black to the incoming black from the cable. Wire the reds to each other. All whites together and all green or bares together.
At the second light wire the fixture black to the red from the cable. White to white, ground to ground.

Sorry to be bringing up such an old thread. I'm finally getting to wiring my lights and have a question. At the first light, I have the R,W,B and G(ground) coming from the 2 switches and then the R,W,B and G going to the second light. I understand I connect the black from the light fixture to the black of the 4 wire coming from the switch, R to R, all W's together and all G's together -- but where does the black wire of the 4 wire cable going to the second light go? Is it just capped and not used? Also, where will this same black wire go to at the second light? I don't see the need for it - appreciate your help. Thank you.
