Hi I have never attempted something like this before but am going to give it a shot.

I was blowing snow with my Mastercraft snowblower made by MTD and noticed a lot of vibration when auger was engaged. To make a long story short I thought the auger self aligning bearing was gone mtd part # 741-0185 but to my dismay the shaft going through the bearing was chewed Mtd Part # 711-1133 and the bearing shot.

I have removed the auger out of the bucket but am wondering how to install the new drive shaft into the gear housing and is it a tough job?

Do I have to remove the augers on each side to split gear assembly to get new shaft in?

I figured I have gone this far so might as well give it a shot. Also does the new bearing have to be pressed into the bearing housing or will it press in when I tighten it back up?

Yes, you do have to seperate the gear housing to replace the shaft. Just remove the bolts on the gear housing and it will split.
The bearing may have to be "tapped" off/on with a small hammer.

I have the old bearing off and the pins on the Blower fan moved when I tapped them.

If I read the information right the gearbox assembly is packed with special grease.

Going to order the shaft tomorrow thanks for the help will keep you posted.
