Just removed a ceiling fan (that wasn't working) to install a chandelier. At first, the chandelier didn't work, so I carefully checked both the black and white wires coming from the ceiling, and my voltage detector said they were hot. It also showed no break in current through the wire into the chandelier.

Hooked the chandelier up in another room and it worked, so it's not the fixture that's the problem.

Any ideas?

thanks

How many volts on the wires in the ceiling box?

If both the old and new fixtures do not work, then the problem must be in the circuit.

Is there anything else on this circuit?
