I want to hang a mailbox outside in my brick. What type
of drill bit do I need & what type of hanger do I use for
the mailbox? Thanks/Jina

You would want to use a "masonry" bit. Drill into the mortar joints..not the brick itself. Less chance of cracking, and easy to patch later if required.
Plastic anchors may work if the mailbox is relatively light weight. Or lead masonry anchors..but those may not be available everywhere in the smaller size you will probably need.
If this is exposed to the weather..I would use stainless steel screws to avoid rusting. The mailbox probably has holes on the back side for mounting.
Any hardware store should have what you need. Home Centers as well, but the help you find there may be less knowlegable.
