I have a MTD push mower model 11A-506L062. They made the gas tank out of plastic. It leaks like a seive. I've tried patching it, but that doesn't work. I need a replacement. It has a B&S 6.25 HP Quantum engine, model 12Q802. How do I go about finding the gas tank part number so I can get a replacement? Also, can I get it at some of these online stores?

I don't necessarily have an answer for you as to where you can find the part, but I do know that I've got a Tecumseh Motor that has a plastic tank that was cracked in several places. I used a soldering iron to melt the crack together and 'pulled' plastic from either side of the crack to seal it. It has worked like a champ so far and I've not had any leaks! Might see if that could work?

Should be part number 699374, about $30. But post your engine "type" number just to be sure.

The leak is along the factory seam. I will give it a try with the soldering iron.

The B&S engine numbers are 12Q802-0204-B1 01120359.

It will help if you cut some thin strips of plastic from a similar type of plastic to use as welding rods, plastic scraper or paint can lids(dull plastic) work well. Have a good one. Geo
