Got our Kinetico head replaced last fall, and the service guy said "I've made it so it recharges more often."
Well, it's been using a bag of salt a day. We called and were sent a contract for over $1000 to replace the head. Huh? Didn't act on that...made another callh...and a month after that call, that they finally had a serviceman return the call (Jan 20th). He had me go check the disk, and it's a #4--he read our history (this is the same place that installed the unit in 1992 or 1992)--and said we should have a #2. He didn't know when he'd be scheduled to come our way, though.
Never heard from him again. They never answer the phone, just say "leave a message." Have contacted Kinetico asking to buy the disk, and they won't sell it to us, "we prefer to have our dealers solve the problem." They re-routed us to a service place about 100 miles from us, and after getting the runaround trying to talk to a serviceman rather than the receptionist, this place has had us run all sorts of leak tests (none--0--nada came up positive), but they WILL NOT ship us a #2 disk. They don't have any of our history on file. They say they have taken over the territory from our local dealer.
This week they *insisted* we must have a leak, and will charge us for a 200 mile roundtrip service call. ALL WE WANT IS THE BLASTED #2 DISK, which served us well for 25 years!!!
Already tearing my hair out. Anyone got a disk to sell? I'm willing to PAY for it...cheaper than a 200-mile bogus service call.

Sorry, don't know how I missed this one. It's too bad that you haven't receieved the service you expected. I always like to hear both sides.
But if you need a disk, let me know. It is not difficult to replace but you need to becareful the first time and pay attention to how everything is set when you disassemble.
