Hi,

I just had a new Goodman System installed, HP Model GSZ130301AB and Air Handler Model ARUF303016BA. I just installed a Honeywell VisionPro 8321 the other day. I have a question on the lenght of time the system is running.

For instance, this morning....It was about 18* this am and around 26* now. My temp is set to 72*. The system is currently on and raised the temp from 70* this am to 72* now, combination of HP only and Aux heat on sometimes. The set temp is 72* and the inside temp reads 72* but my HP is running and has been for a while. Will it eventually turn off?

Last night I had it set to 72* and it had been running for a while. I upped the temp to 73*, waited a bit and the inside temp read 73*, and it still ran. Now, it may turn off, but I konw the inside temp has been at 72* for about 45min and the HP is still on. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The heat pump will run continuously until the heat loss of the house falls below the heat production from the heat pump. If you want it to run shorter periods, improve the house insulation and seal up the envelope tighter to reduce infiltration.

Last night it was 21 deg. here in SC and as usual with very cold nights, my unit ran all night. I have been told by many including Lennox that this is not abnormal. Even though your stat shows that the inside temp is on target, the current stats measure in fractions of a degree and will keep it at a steady temp utilizing both the HP and auxiliary heat.

At low OD temps like that I would expect long run times. Long run times can help comfort, are still more energy efficient than your aux, don't affect longevity as much as multiple stop-start cycling.
